Big news today from West End as Vanderbilt announced it had reached a 5-year deal to have WLAC AM 1510 in Nashville be the flagship station for all Commodore football and men's basketball games. With this announcement, Vanderbilt trades up from a classic rock station with limited signal outside Nashville, to a station that reaches into 25 states at night. For what it's worth, I think this is a fantastic move with nothing but upside. The AM signal will give Vanderbilt a wider audience outside the Nashville area.
In the Nashville area, WLAC is likely to reach a larger audience than WRQQ 97.1 did (whether it's format was classic rock or contemporary Christan).

This is a big coup for the Dores! As a Georgia Bulldog fan, I have grown up listening to other SEC teams on the radio to catch the action around the conference. WLAC was always a Vol station. This means that Vandy has replaced Tennessee as the team of choice on the Tennessee's radio giant. Congrats to all who made it happen.
