VSL Poll: Which Quarterback Gives Vanderbilt Football the Best Chance to Win?

If we had a better offensive line, I would be OK with Smith. Honestly, I think we need somebody who makes quick decisions - and that's Rodgers.

I was pleased with the play-calling, for the most part ... except for that Cainesque QB draw call on third and inches in the first half, of course. But, the quick passing game gives us a chance, and hides our porous offensive line.

I'll trust the staff on this one. Honestly, I'm not sure Smith can stay healthy. It may be prudent to plan on playing both QBs going forward, so that Rodgers gets valuable experience and Smith stays fresh and healthy ...

I suspect we'll need both Smith and Rodgers to play the rest of the season. Remember we needed 3 QBs to win the Music City Bowl.

Also, I do not want to go to Winston-Salem in November with only 5 wins. Once again, hats off to the schedulers to put us in a position to ALMOST become bowl eligible.

Crazy me. I'm prone to let Coach Franklin make that call.

If he thinks Larry Smith gives us the best chance to win, then I think Larry Smith gives us the best chance to win.

I still think that LS gives us the best chance to win. The O-line played much better against Alabama last night; the problem was Alabama is so dominant on both sides of the ball that it was hard to see the progress. I would like to see more balls thrown downfield to Mathews and Boyd to stretch the defense; one of those guys should have a mismatch downfield on almost every pass-play but we have not seen many throws downfield the last few games. Likely still due to O-line issues or slow reads by LS and /or Rogers. We seem to have a very predictable offense right now with the end-around, slot-wr slants in front of the LB's, and short throws to the RB or the slot wr. We need a little more creativity in play-calling and continued better O-line play to give LS a chance. I think the schedule will lighten up a little bit now. I think that LS gives us the best chance to get to 6 wins. Go Dores !

Give Rodgers a full week of practice and the other stuff that goes w being 1 - see what he can do. Results w smith are pitiful.

Correcting the comment above, our WR do not have an advantage against the upper half of the SEC.

I was impressed with Rodgers. He made some mistakes, but he also impressed me with some of his quick throws with his footwork, zip and accuracy. I would like to see Rodgers more. He is also a lot faster than I thought. I like his confidence.

Just to throw this out there, I think Franklin is/was a better choice than Malzahn. I was not impressed with Malzahn against AR. I think we got the better coach.

Agree CJF is definitely the better coach and a good person for VU. Malzahn is not impressive - Auburn got lucky with one player last year - they do not have a great foundation like Bama or LSU.

You guys are kidding right? Auburn has had a top 3 recruiting class for two straight years. Lost almost every player on both sides of the ball from the NC team and start a bunch of freshmen. Not to mention their top two WRs and linemen are injured. CJF has been cool slick on the recruiting trail and semi decent with the game planning. I agree he's a great person for Vandy right now, but let's not be naive.
