Commodores Coast; Beat Belmont 6-1 and Sweep Nashville Regional

Vanderbilt dominated the Nashville Regional, allowing just 3 runs in 3 games, while plating 26. The Commodores were as dominating as any team in the field, and clearly put the college baseball world on notice that Vanderbilt is on a mission. Jason Esposito was Regional MVP going 7-13 with 3 runs and 4 RBIs on the weekend, joining a host of other Commodores, but to me, the story of the Regional was Taylor Hill's performance tonight. HIll's line is a gaudy 8.0, 1 ER, 5 hits, and a whopping 13 strike-outs. Hill made one mistake - Belmont's Tim Egerton's solo blast in the 2nd inning. Other than that, only one other Bruin reached second base. It's noteworthy that the only reason the other Bruin made the turn was because of a Mike Yastrzemaki error in right, mishandling Greg Brody's single in the 4th.

The Commodores exercised their 2007 deamons and will will host the winner of the Corvallis Regional (either Georgia or Oregon State) in the first Super Regional at Hawkins Field. Dates and time for the Super Regional will be announced once the Regionals are complete. For ticket information, click here.
