Dan Cage Returning to Vanderbilt

The former Commodore sharpshooter is slated to return to Memorial Gym as an assistant coach. Dan's name is not currently listed as on the staff according to the 2010-2011 roster, however Cage was seen at yesterday's Faculty/Staff Basketball Picnic and reportedly said he was joining Coach Stallings' staff. If Cage can have an impact on Jeffrey Taylor and John Jenkins, he's got my vote for MVP.

Are we sure this is happening? I really like Dan when he was at Vandy, always seemed level headed and a smart player. So I wanna celebrate this move by Stallings but this is the only place Ive heard it.

This was also reported on Vandysports.com back on October 9.

According to people posting on the Commodores War Room (I find it to be pretty accurate but take it for what it is), Dan will be on the staff in some capacity, not coaching players but probably more in breaking down game film (of other opponents? of Vandy players?). Maybe he will move into a more official role down the road.

For those of us with fuzzy memories, a little bit of background on Dan Cage?

I've got a blank space where my mind should be.

Great 3 point shooter, dark headed kid who was senior when Vandy went to the Sweet 16 in 2007. Happy to see him back.

Dan played the 3 and 4 on the last sweet 16 team. He wasn't the most talented guy on the team, but he was the heart of the team. Anything that rubs off of him to the team will be great.
