we need a dominant big man
In an ideal world that would be nice but considering what we have on our roster, which is basically just 1 shooting guard (Jenkins), who will be a Junior and maybe in his last year with the program when this class comes in, I have to say a shooting guard or a Shan Foster type guy at small forward is the most important thing to get in this class.
Remember Festus is going to be a junior this year and we have Josh Henderson coming in as a freshman, so Center is not our biggest need. I would rank it this way:
1) Shooting guard
2) Power Forward
3) Center
4) Small forward, wing
5) Another PG
Given the fact that we have a real good shot at Dai-Jon Parker I would say shooting guard. It kind of depends on who you have a chance at recruiting. So for next year, I would say PF/C is our most important, but this year is definitely shooting guard.
You guys are crazy. We need a shooting guard!!!! You understand this is for the next recruiting class and not the one that are already enrolled in school an on the team? Josh Henderson (6'11) is attending classes and on the team. He will back up Festus this season. We basically have NO backup shooting guard behind Jenkins (I guess Jordan Smart but if he is getting significant minutes we are F'd).
do people really think jenkins is leaving this or next year? give me a break. he's here til senior year. tinsley, jenkins, fuller, and now KJ and we need a guard and i'm crazy? ezeli isn't proven and hasn't been outside of defense and blocking. don't get me wrong, that's good, but come on. we need a scorer. and henderson is about as thin as my 12 year old cousin. maybe if he puts on weight but i don't see that guy as a banger. we need an actual dominant big man.
Because Tinsley is a junior point guard (will be a senior when KJ is a frosh), Fuller and KJ are both point guards. Meaning Jenkins is the only shooting guard on the roster and it is a def possibility that he COULD leave after his junior season. But even if he doesn't we need more than 1 outside shooter.
There's your PF/C ladies and gentlemen. Reports are that Shelby Moats has committed to Vanderbilt!
So is that it for the available scholarships in 2011 and 2012 both?
Nope. Mostl likely Walker and McClellan will be coming off the books this year. And probably Jeff Taylor as well. The following year Brad, Lance, Tshiengang, Festus and possibly Jenkins will be leaving.
So I think they will bring in 1 more kid this year, 3 next year again and 4 the year after.
So wait, is Andre leaving early? Remember, he got injured in 2008 and was granted a redshirt, so he's technically a 4th-year junior this season.
Is he planning on leaving and getting his master's elsewhere, like George Drake did at UAB?
I don't think anything is def but supposedly (just rumblings I heard) he almost left after last year. I assume if that was the case then he would prob leave the end of this year having graduated ala Drake but just speculation on my behalf.
