Day 2 of the SEC Tournament: #8 LSU vs. #5 Vanderbilt

The Commodores, powered by Sonny Gray's 7 scoreless innings, defeated Arkansas 2-0 last night to complete a sweep of the top 4 seeds in the SEC Tournament. The Tennessean's Jeff Lockridge has a full-recap. The win puts the Commodores in the winner's bracket, and will again play the final game of the day, taking on #8 LSU sometime around 8 pm in Hoover. Vanderbilt has seen this Tiger team recently, taking 2 of 3 in Baton Rogue behind strong pitching performances from Taylor Hill (9 IP, 2 ER) and Jack Armstrong (7.2 IP, 3 ER). For good measure, after getting shelled Friday, Sonny game in for 1.1 IP to get the save in Vanderbilt's sunday win in Baton Rogue 4-3.

All of today's games are available on CSS and ESPN3.com. Additionally, you can track SEC Tournament action the SEC's Tournament Central. Like last night, I'll be live-blogging the game and would encourage those in VSLNation to follow the action through ESPN3.com or the feed of Joe Fisher's call on AM 560, WNSR.

Beyond baseball, the Commodore football team suffered a huge set-back yesterday, as Coach Bobby Johnson announced James Williams, slotted by many to be an important part of Vanderbilt's offensive line, would not return to school for academic reasons. For the full report, read Jeff Lockridge's piece in the Tennessean.
