Vanderbilt Avoids the Sweep: Shut-Out Gators 7-0

#23 Vanderbilt was able to get out of Gainesville with a win, beating the Gators 7-0 to conclude a 3-game series that found Florida in the winning dugout Friday and Saturday.

The Commodores are now 24-6 overall, and 5-4 in SEC play. Vanderbilt is now in 3rd place in the SEC East, 2 games behind the Gamecocks (7-2), and 1 game back of the Gators (6-3). Vanderbilt hosts South Carolina for a 3-game series at Hawkins Field next weekend, the key contests in the Commodores' upcoming 8-game home-stand.

The Commodore bats came alive, scoring 7 runs today, while only managing 5 in their previous two. As usual, Vanderbilt's hurler's were stout, allowing just 5 hits, while striking out 7. Going forward, it's clear that Vanderbilt's success will hinge on their offensive production. Still, Tim Corbin's squad is a balanced one, and one Commodore fans should start paying attention to.

Happy Easter from all of us at VSL
