Week 10 Rankings Released

USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll has been released and Vanderbilt is just outside the top 25, coming in at 27th (tied with Mississippi State). AP Poll has not been released, but we'll let you know if we broke in there.

MORE...26th in the AP poll

26th and 27th. not bad and about where i expected us to be. with a quiet week and a home win against auburn we should move into the top 25 for hell week. which will then most likely drop us out of it again. haha

I'm ok with us not being in the Top 25. But how is UNC still considered a Top 25 team? They have lost 3 of their last 4 and 6 overall. WTF?

I had a twitter war with both Gary Parrish and Jeff Goodman on that point. Goodman was the only one to respond, stating that Vandy had lost 3 games to non top-25 teams and had not beaten any of the top 25.

I think that analysis is flawed. Cincinnati and Illinois were both in the Top 25 at one point or another, and while Western Kentucky is not a "top 25" team, they have a better Kenpom and RPI than College of Charleston. Unless you consider losing to Kentucky, Texas, Clemson, and Syracuse basically as more impressive than losing just three games to decent opponents, I don't see how that justifies putting us behind UNC at this point.

Lunardi has us as a 6 seed in latest bracketology.

Maybe it's better we aren't ranked in top 25 since we are 1-3 when ranked this season.

SI.com's projected brackets have us as a #6 seed, too.

Against Siena.

If Antwan Wiggins wasn't out for the year, College of Charleston might be a top 15 team in the nation right now.

If Kentucky wins against Arkansas at home this Saturday, and @ SC next week (both very likely), we will be playing the undefeated #1 ranked team at Rupp...

If you really care about how the media perceives the squad, then they need to win at least 2 out of the 4 (and at least 1 on the road) Kentucky + Tennessee conference games to get respect.

if carolina is still in the top 25 after losing two straight then we are going to have to work hard to gain respect...lots of bias goin on in the polls

Polls shmoles. Hold homecourt serve in conference, win a game our three in the SEC Tournament, and make a run in The Dance.

Like others have said, I don't mind flying under the radar for awhile. Let this team gel out of sight of the National media, and make a splash when they're good and ready.
