VSL Hotline: Not This, Edition

This is not the article I wanted to see this morning. Apparently, according to Jeff Lockridge in the Tennessean, Coach Bobby Johnson considered replacing Larry Smith with back-up Mackenzi Adams at several points during Saturday's embarrassing offensive performance against Mississippi State. He didn't, in part, because every time CBJ would get close, "Larry would sit in there and throw a good pass and somebody would (drop) it on the ground." Jeff seems to think Larry might be on a short leash. I really hope not. Larry Smith is Vanderbilt's future. What happened Saturday was in part his fault, but that doesn't mean we should start a musical chairs situation under center. If CBJ decides to replace Larry, a modest proposal: replace Ted Cain first.

VSL Poll: Should Larry be on a short leash such that Bobby should be ready to turn a game over to Mackenzi?

The Nashville City Paper's David Boclair writes about Myron Lewis' new major "Film Studies."

i agree with coach. i want adams in the game. smith is the second coming of nickson and i think adams would've won that miss st game. larry's passes were horrible.

That's not what CBJ said. And it's a little too early to be giving up on Smith and his development as a QB...he can't be treated as the single blame in the game, everyone sucked. There's going to be some rough spots (and I agree Smith misplaced a lot of passes) but hopefully this will be a learning experience for him. It was a sh*itty game, and as Vandy fans one that was all too familiar, but the team sounded pissed off enough that we should bounce back...

i'm sure we will bounce back against rice. they are 0-3 and look really horrible. we can get back to 2-2 but if we play like we did at lsu or w/ miss st ole miss will blow us out the water. they also have extra time to prepare for us since they play this thursday against south carolina. this season is looking ugly so far.

with all the vandy alumni, i'm surprised there has been nothing posted on the bears huge win over the steelers and cutlers performance. did what the titans couldn't do. win a game.
