Injury Problems Mount

More bad news from the Tennessean's Jeff Lockridge. Receiver John Cole and Strong Safety Sean Richardson underwent surgery Sunday. Cole suffered a broken hand and Richardson had a torn tendon in his thumb repaired. More from Jeff: "Two additional starters - tailback Zac Stacy and defensive tackle T.J. Greenstone - are hurting as well after the trip to Houston."

2-2 and banged up...not the position Commodore fans wanted to be in with a third of our games in the books

Not good. Just as Cole was getting a little momentum...at least Umoh is stepping up as well. As for Richardson, I don't know how many more injuries the secondary can take...

I also wonder if its a good idea (or even possible) to redshirt Stacy for this year, given CBJ's comments on his injury in that article, and the fact we seem deep enough on the running front. Does anyone know if it's too late to do this?

richardson is still expected to play this week. are we getting anyone back for ole miss? wasn't stone expected to be back for this game?

also, completely unrelated to football but does anyone at the sportsline know anything about casey prather's status? he hasn't visited vandy yet but he is from here so maybe he doesn't need an official visit. it would be nice to lock in that recruit, another 4 star talent to help out everyone if ogilvy leaves and when beal is gone. he's visited 2 or 3 other schools i think.

The Prather issue has been rather clouded. On several of the message boards people have speculated about his front-runners, but thus far there hasn't been much on who he's interested in.

I think that we were the front runners for a while, but as time has passed I kind of question that stance now. Being the local school and the one that Prather is most familiar with, we had an advantage for a while. But it seems like Prather is really interested in looking at a lot of schools outside of the state. This doesn't bode well for us. While I think we're still in the mix to land Prather, it's going to come down to him not finding a school outside of the state that appeals to him as much as we do. The longer he looks, the greater the chance that he finds something.

One thing we have in our favor is that I have read rumblings that he was most interested in going to UNC. It doesn't appear as though UNC is going to give him an offer, based on what I've read (which may be completely unreliable but is fodder nonetheless). That's a major player who is takes himself out of the picture, and gives us a much better opportunity if we are in at least the top 5, which I believe we are.

Smart money is on Prather going to Florida. Pardon the pun.

Actually, just in is that Prather has narrowed it to Michigan and Florida. I'm with Seamus on this one, it looks like he's heading to Florida.

Did anyone see that Casey Prather cut us from his list yesterday? He's going to choose between Kansas and Florida this week. He would have been a huge pickup for us, but with John, Jeff, and Brad playing in the backcourt and being young, I can't say that I'm surprised. Good news is that Josh Henderson, 6-11 C ranked 22 out of centers, is down to us and Wake, and Wake just signed the number 6 center in the class. So hopefully he can come back up AJ next year, assuming AJ stays.

Prather committed to Florida today. I would say that I wish him luck wherever he goes, but since he's going to Florida, and Florida might be the bane of college sports existence, I really don't wish him the best. No offense Casey, you may be a nice kid, but when you sign with Florida, well, Tim Tebow is a nice guy too but plenty of people hate him. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Two more guys to look out for: Dwight Powell from IMG Academy in Florida and Rod Odom from Middlesex School in Massachusetts. Odom is an SF and Powell is a Center. BOTH would be big additions.
