Steve Spurrier announced that Sophomore Chris Smelley will start for the Gamecocks this Thursday Night. While this has been widely reported, VSL got it's information from Rick Scoppe's story at GreenvilleOnline.com.
Smelley was 5-5 for 92 yards and threw for 2 touchdowns against N.C. State. Smelley replaced Tommy Beecher, who was 12-22 with 0 TDs and 4 INTs as Spurrier's starting QB.
