Justify the Hype

There's a lot to like about our chances this week. We're at home in what is finally a difficult place to play, Tommy Tuberville refuses to use Kodi Burns, completely negating the effect of the spread offense (who's really fooled when everyone knows that Chris Todd isn't running the football?), and Auburn has just come from two brutal games against LSU and Tennessee, while we are rested off a bye week. Even if Nickson's shoulder is still banged up, I feel good about Mackenzie. Last year's curse turned out to be this years blessing as we have two experienced QBs who run well in our offense. We get George Smith back this week as well. And boy is our defense good... A lot has been made of Vandy football this year, with pundits picking us to make our first bowl game since 1982, and some picking us for an 8 win season. I think we've proven that we aren't at the bottom of the pack anymore. I think we can prove that we're not even in the middle.

I had us pegged for a 4-8 season, but I take pleasure in saying that I was wrong. My pessimism originated from the graduation of an entire offensive line, a question mark at quarterback, and 3 NFL draft picks heading to the pros. But CBJ hasn't been resting on his laurels on the recruiting trail. We had people fill in. I was way wrong in thinking that we would take a step back and I'm damn proud to say it.

Now that the national spotlight is on us we need to shine while its there. You can't put a price tag on how valuable that media attention is for recruiting purposes. If we can come away with a win here, it'll really make a statement that this ain't your daddy's Vanderbilt. The time has come to fully justify the hype we've been getting.
Go Commies

I couldn't contain myself last week... now I'm just busting to see us at the game of the week and getting gameday on campus. i always dreamed of having them there when I was a student and I'm strongly considering driving the 4 hours to be there and bring the noise for our commies!!!

Nice work Stanimal.

Stay Defiant. Remember all the jokes, all the snide remarks, and how quickly it can turn. Wins are the only thing that matters.

F*** ESPN, f*** all the "Can you believe Vanderbilt is ranked" stories. It's Vanderbilt against the world.

'Dore nation knew this day would come... but most of us didn't believe it would be this season. ZERO expectations... NOTHING to lose. 40 minutes to grasp the opportunity of shutting the door on the past and opening a new "dore" marked by pride greater than merely "being competitive" in the nations toughest conference.

(pardon the pun)

Can't help it ... I'm already wondering whether I'd rather see us play Bama or LSU in the SEC title game.
