VSL Hotline: Round One Edition

With a day of games behind us, VSL Nation can finally zero in on the business at hand: beating Siena. Despite our Nashville brethren's valiant effort, yesterday was almost entirely upset free. In fact, only 2 of the lower seeded teams won yesterday, which means that today could be interesting. There were some great games yesterday, and based on the schedule, I am quite sure today won't disappoint either.

Moving now to the Commodores, Mo Patton's got a good piece in the Tennessean comparing Siena with two of Vanderbilt's other SEC opponents: Auburn and Tennessee. No disrespect to Siena, but I think this team is a lot more Auburn than UT based on them being "under-sized." If Vanderbilt's performance in the SEC Tournament, specifically Crocodile OG, is any indication, tonight's game could be fun to watch. Patton also notes in a double-dip Friday that "In recent year's Vanderbilt has avoided bracket busting."

The Man We Love to Hait's piece in today's Nashville City Paper keys in on Vanderbilt's Rodney Dangerfield impression claiming they get "no respect."

VUCommodores.com's Tournament Central, as always, is a great source.

For VSL Nation, there are alumni viewing parties galore.
New York, LA, Atlanta, Washington, Phoenix, The Research Triangle, Chicago, Boston, and Cleveland all have events posted. If you are in another city and know of a gathering, send us an email or post it in the comments section. The goal should be to black-out as many bars as possible.

While it's got nothing to do with the Commodores, this is a great article from Slate.com about all the teams we love to hate. Somehow, Vomit Orange didn't make the list.

VSL Bracket Challenge is going strong with a 6-way tie for 1st after going 15 for 16 on day one.

If you aren't excited today, than this really isn't the site for you.

Bobby, OUT

Stupid poll on espn.com right now. When I read all the options I knew what the 'sexy pick' would be. Idiots.

Go Dores!

I'm not sure if this was mentioned in a previous run-down or not, but I stumbled upon this article this morning from the Nashville Scene by Sarah Kelley. It's a good article, little heavy for early Friday morning, but good. Enjoy.
