i am terrified for the rest of the season and i'm rapidly losing my confidence in this team.

is it okay to say i think we officially suck? i'm starting to believe everything they were saying about us. "they haven't played anyone and are barely winning". blah blah, all that yak. i'll be @ the game saturday and if we don't come out big we are in trouble. no way we even beat florida or ole miss playing like that. maybe not even LSU. a season of promise is starting to drain. not flush, but it's going down and could be gone before we know it. beat LSU, please. just beat LSU

My analysis of the last two games does not leave me enough evidence to give up hope for this team. Let's not forget that we did lose to Furman last year and look how well we turned things around in the end. We have a very talented/capable team and have all the potential in the world to compete with the "powerhouse programes". Note: UNC barely beat a Georgia Tech team that we were destroying at almost 30 points before CKS put in the kids to get some experience. What I have noticed to be the significant issues with the last two weeks is simply this: Poor passing, missed free-throws, poor 3-point shooting, and poor defense. The boys seemed to have been stepping up the D but they consistently forget to watch the back-door (Ross Neltner specifically). Did they forget how many times Wake Forrest and DePaul lobbed up dunk passes from beyond the arc all night? Oddly enough, our defense seemed to be getting a lot better but our offense is significantly struggling. I think CKS has the boys focusing too much on the D in practice and not continuing the offense. I think tomorrow's game at home will be a good re-charge game for us before we take on Ole Miss - a team that is very beatable. If you watched the UF/OM game, it was obvious that both of those teams are very beatable. Final thought: Once we get over the hump and learn to play two halves instead of just the second we'll be just fine. I still think we're a Final 4 calibre team, we just need to continue to work on our game and get better like we did last year. How sweet would it be to take on UT or UNC in the National Championship?

whew, national championship? lets slow down. it would be awesome, but let's beat LSU first. i'm nervous about that game now. we HAVE to get better or we'll continue to lose. i think UF & Ole Miss are beatable and 3 wins in a row here would be awesome to put us at 4-2 with promising games on the horizon. i still think a 10-6 or 11-5 SEC record is within reach. but these next 3 games are critical. at least we get a week to prep for UF after this early game tomorrow.

This was a sickening performance in my mind. Obviously there's no point in hitting the panic button with so much of the season ahead. But this team learned the hard way tonight that scoring isn't going to be the only way to win. They have to find some cohesion on defense and for goodness sake can we please find someway to limit our turnovers?! It's absolutely sickening to watch our guards penetrate to the middle and get stripped, or make an errant pass, or to watch our big men turn to the basket and make the ball so available to be stripped. Protect the ball!

I couldn't watch anymore past 5 minutes into the 2nd half. I was hoping that perhaps a rude awakening would come from the KY loss, but I think they needed to get their bell rung one more time to realize that they really can't get by on scoring alone.

CKS should be saying I told you so in practice today. "Most overrated team in the country".

where is the offensive coaching? we have absolutely no offensive game plan. our offense looks like pick-up basketball with everyone watching the ball and trying to shake their defender (like a bunch of wide receivers trying to make a move to get open). the only real play i have seen in the last two games was the well executed double screen on foster to hit the last second shot against UK. there is no reason we shouldn't be running a reggie miller style offense - setting multiple screens for shan and rolling aj to the basket. this team has no offensive execution and i can't remember the last time i saw someone set an actual pick (everyone just does the backyard runnup and roll-off before the defender actually gets to you, and then call for the ball). and im not going to even mention the passing - i think i was taught the art of the bounce pass in 5th grade. it is sad that a team of this caliber, with this amount of talent is playing so poorly. i blame it 100% on coaching. i still have hope but am highly frusterated.

i think everyone needs to take it easy. let's get a few things straight: 1) Tennessee is an excellent team. As much as it pains me to say it, the Vols are an outstanding team, especially on the defensive end. one of the best in the country. 2) Road games especially in the SEC do not come easy. The slightest misfortune, poor play, bad call, whatever, can ignite the crowd and swing the momentum (SEE Memorial Gym). as usual with Vandy I think the heavily home-skewed non-conference schedule 3) The officiating made it difficult to mount a comeback. Shan's charge when down 11 was a killer. A clear block and possible three point play turns into a dunk on the other end. 5 point swing. game over. also, ticky-tack fouls on the perimeter down the stretch put UT at the line when we needed stops. this was a game stallings needed to get a T and did. 4) I don't think we can shoot that poorly again. Tough defense, new shooting background, big game jitters are probably all to blame for the dismal shooting effort last night. the good news is that we are a good shooting team, especially at home, and have a chance to regain some confidence.

one thing that must change more than turnovers or shooting or defense is ogilvy in foul trouble. the game changes completely with him out of the game. he can't get 2 fouls in the first 8-9 minutes and sit for 10. as much as people may disagree i think that more than anything led to the loss. the halftime deficit that ogilvy's absence created was too much to overcome given the opponent and circumstances

You all need to calm down. The SEC absolutely blows goats this year.

Vandy doesn't even really have to play that well to finish the season near enough the five loss mark that they can get a decent seed in the big dance. They'll be fine.

As for Tennessee, they looked pretty good. Do I think they're on the same level with UNC, Memphis and UCLA? Absolutely not.

The team is fine. As noted above it is difficult to play on the road. I mean did anyone honestly believe that we were not going to lose 5-6 in conference games this year.

We had a chance in this game (albeit a small one), down 8 with 3 straight possessions, but we failed to score on any of them. Turnovers have to stop. Ross has to be taken out of the game.

if we are .500 or after the Florida game we are fine.

What killed us in this game was our inability to hit the 3 and our foul shooting.

I think UT proved that they are a good team, and they are only going to get better when at full strength with lofton playing better, which sickens me to no end.

The trouble with this team is that they play in spurts. About two spurts of good play per half, the rest really inattentive play. I was hoping they could "turn it on" when they needed to. Now I don't think they can. Not yet. They need to beat LSU by fifteen points for me to feel good about the balance of the season. To win by less is to remain within the current habits. I would rather they lose than win in overtime in terms of the rest of the season.

anybody else just so pumped up about this game today? sarcasm friends, sarcasm. if foster scores 30 and ogilvy goes off maybe i'll be happy

gordon with 18!?!? NELTNER with 16!?!? that's how we win. when these two step up. good win and a long week to prepare for the gators. a win there would be huge.

Took care of business today. A good sign. 17-2. Still in business. Writing in short sentences. Classic internet cliche. Bottles 9% trappist ale. Several.
