Vanderbilt Hotline: Wednesday Edition

A few articles I wanted to put out there since we've been lacking lately in our posting. Woody's post on ESPN suddenly realizing that, not only do they play basketball in Tennessee, but the colleges there actually play it at a high level. While it focuses a little too much on UT for my liking, I'd just stoked for the ink.

The Man We Love to Hait's got a piece in today's Nashville City Paper on Vanderbilt's "Old Reliable" senior offensive lineman Josh Eames. Yesterday, The Man had a story on Vanderbilt's state of "readiness" after their week off.

Picking up the "resting" theme, Mo Patton's article in this morning's Tennessean talks about Chris Nickson's week off as a chance to get healthy after being banged up early in the season. Yesterday, Mo wrote about the early season play of the tight ends, and how they are looking to make a impact in the Commies passing attack.

Next week's showdown in Auburn will be televised on Lincoln Financial, which means all us suckers living outside the Nashville area will be able to pick up the game on ESPN Gameplan.

For this week, all the information you need can be found at VUCommodores.com's Game Day page. It's possible we'll have some notes and things to listen for (assuming you aren't going to the game)...but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

The Week 4 SEC Power Poll is out, and Vanderbilt is tied at 9th with Mississippi State...believe it or not, there are still still some non-believers out there.

Commies, Commies, oh hell yeah!

Bobby, OUT.

I like how espn acknowledges jeff green’s shuffle (read: blatant travel, I don’t care what Hoya apologists say). Living in DC and seeing Georgetown paraphernalia everywhere has made the hurt continue to bubble at the surface.

Anyways, though the article was UT-heavy, it’s still good to see us in there. I also think there's a good chance of having a better regular season record than last year. Though we wont be 3-ball heavy and wont have Dan or DB, I dont think we'll overlook some of the smaller teams like Furman and App state like last year - and we'll have Croc-Og Down Under the basket.

One point of clarification:

It is the official VSL position that Andrew Ogilvy is to be referred to as "Crocodile OG," not Croc...it's funny because there is a movie Crocodile Dundee.
