Vanderbilt Hotline: "Better Late Than Never?" Edition

OK, you've all got a right to be mad at us for not getting any Vanderbilt sports news up today. For those of you who need a quick fix before the work day ends and the weekend starts, here's what the web has to offer for people like us (and a sad lot we are):

Football is on the brain this Friday. Check out Part I of VUCommodores.com's interview with Offensive Coordinator Ted Cain. Very informative. We're set for an explosive and exciting offense.

Also note Mo Patton's piece about the senior leadership across the offensive line. A telling quote: "After ranking in the bottom half of the Southeastern Conference last season in six of seven offensive categories, any improvement this fall — and any hopes of a postseason appearance — will hinge on the offensive line living up to Caldwell's expectations." I'd say that's accurate.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution rates the SEC's top five wide receivers. Surprise, surprise - guess who's #1...

For those of you who are able to pull yourself away from football talk for a few minutes (a Hurculean task, no doubt) you'll be pleased to read that David Price remains unsigned and the D-Rays have until the 15th to close the deal or else he's a Commie once more.

Finally, Brett Hait reports that the Vanderbilt basketball team will be among eight to participate in the annual South Padre Island Invitational in November. Also in the tournament are Bradley, Utah State, Iowa, Florida Gulf Coast, Austin Peay, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Valparaiso.

Sorry we were tardy - very tardy - on today's rundown. But hey, sue us if you don't like it. And have a good weekend.
