Vanderbilt Hotline: Bowlers go to Washingon

Sorry we didn't get anything up yesterday, but it was a busy day in the life of Bobby. So, without further ado, let's get right to it...

We'll lead with bowling, since the lady pinsters were honored yesterday at the White House for their NCAA National Championship. The AP story appears in today's Tennessean. VUCommodores.com's Will Matthews also has a story on the ladies' visit to our Nation's Capital.

Moving to baseball, the Tennessean, scooped by the Cape Cod Daily, reports that Casey Weathers has signed with the Colorado Rockies. Staying with baseball, David Price continues to rack up the post-season honors, as he was named Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association. In his second "Vanderbilt note," Brett Hait also writes on Price's honor in today's Nashville City Paper. As both the Tennessean and Hait point out, Pedro Alvarez and Ryan Flaherty were named to the ABCA's Second-Team.

Get excited for football season Commie Nation, because Vanderbilt has two players on pre-season "watch lists." As Brett Hait writes in note #1, senior OT Chris Williams "was added to the Outland Trophy preseason watch list on Monday." Senior Jonathan Goff, according to the City Paper report, "is under consideration for the Bronko Nagurski Award." While this is fantastic, where is Earl? Is it possible that he was left off these early-season "watch lists"? Stanimal, your help in understanding what the HELL is going on, would be greatly appreciate by me and the rest of our readers.

That's all I've got, but keep the conversation going in the comments section below.

The Biletnikoff award watch-list hasn't been announced yet.

Stanimal on the spot...I am announcing a pre-emptive declaration of war on the Biletnkoff Award if Earl is not at least on the watch-list.

Biletnkoff Award voters, you are on notice.

He'll be on the watch list. He was on it last year at the beginning of the season, and he caught for 400 yards more than his freshman campaign. What you should put on notice is the All-America voters. There is no way Earl shouldn't be a first teamer there.

Since there's nothing else to talk about, I'll just go ahead and gloat to the three of you that, yes, I was in fact correct that we have THREE preseason All Americans on this team. According to Athlon anyway (I don't think Lindy's picks a third team). Hopefully the AP et. al. will get their heads screwed on right.

Also, note that Rivals.com has Earl at #3 in the preseason power rankings at wide receiver, which is probably right where he should be. Definitely no complaints about any snubbing so far...
