Like Philip says, what do you think?

I think Coach Stallings has a good thing going at Vanderbilt and that he has the program moving in the right direction. With that said, I think that there are other coaches out there (and that Vanderbilt could get) that could pick up where CKS would leave off should he take another job.

I don't think Vanderbilt basketball would necessarily go into a nose-dive with someone other than Stallings patrolling the end-line.

I was glad to hear this part:

"I don't think Vanderbilt basketball would necessarily go into a nose-dive with someone other than Stallings patrolling the end-line."

Several of his fans on one of the well known VU forums thinks it would be the end of western civilization as we know it he leaves.

I generally agree, but let's not kid ourselves. Coaching searches are a crapshoot for Kentucky, Indiana, or North Carolina. They're certainly no less so for Vanderbilt.

But hey, sometimes you throw a seven when you actually meant to.

I take the view that Vanderbilt has demonstrated with abundant clarity its willingness to support a coach with strong financial backing, and draw two conclusions from that:

1) If we wanted to go out and get a great (perhaps up-and-coming) coach who could "own" the program and have us at an elite level for many years to come, we probably could. Nashville is an incredibly attractive place for a coach to settle down with his family, Vanderbilt is a dynamic university on the rise, and the university could afford to make an offer someone couldn't refuse.

2) We probably won't be in that position this year because Stallings has a fat contract and the likelihood of another school buying him out of it or ponying up that much for him is slim. Moreover, Stallings could wisely use the rumors of him being looked at elsewhere as a bargaining chip to his advantage when talking to the Vanderbilt administration.

Whatever happened to "Modest Mouse"?

They were the only band anybody talked about for almost an entire week one time.

Then they were gone.

Will everybody yawn if they release another CD someday?

And what about ringtones?
What's up with those?

Honestly I don't think it would make a huge difference if we still had CKS coaching or a rising star from another program. I really think his biggest problem is consistancy, any time that his neck is on the line they do well, otherwise they do not. There is lots of buzz about him going to Iowa or Michigan, but I'm really not sure either will be an offer he can't refuse.
