Vanderbilt Hotline: Now what do we do?

Vanderbilt football's Black and Gold scrimmage will be this weekend in Nashville, and our man Stanimal will relay as much information as any man can through one blood-shot eye. The scrimmage starts at 10am, so I wouldn't put money on the Stanimal being there for kick-off (in that sense, it will be like most other Vanderbilt footballs for all of us, won't it?). The Baseball team travels to Columbia this weekend for a three game set against the Gamecocks. According to Baseball America, South Carolina is the #1 team in all the land; Vanderbilt's currently got the bronze with a ranking of #3. As for me, my weekend plans are still very much in the air. I have heard talk of a canoe rental being in my future, but it's too early to tell.

We'll start with baseball since that is the only team that we cover on the reg that is actually playing a game against other people that matters. The three game series gets under way tonight at 7 eastern, 6 in the heartland. Mo Patton has a series preview in today's Tennessean that is worth a gander. Mo points out that freshman hurler Mike Minor will make only his second start on Saturday against the Cocks. Despite being a freshman only making his second start, Minor has had a great year so far, already amassing a 3-0 record, an ERA of 2.35, and 37 K's. Patton postulates (how about that alliteration?) that Minor's start is a result of Brett Jacobson's rough inning last Sunday in Arkansas. It had been the plan of Coach Corbin to limit Minor to mid-week, non-SEC starts, and have him relieve during conference play. Brett Hait also highlight's the the pitching staff's "Shake-up" in today's Nashville City Paper.

Brett Hait's got a piece about Chris Nickson and his unquestioned position as this team's leader. CBJ stopped by 104.5 the Zone in Nashville for his weekly Thursday interview, if you want to listen, click here. I will continue to bring this up until Commodore Nation hits the 1,000 mark with the Vanderbilt Cover of the Athlon College Football Preview. Vanderbilt has separated itself from UCF and is currently 3rd with 323 magazines pre-order, and 32% of the way there. Orders must be placed by April 5th, so just go ahead and buy it now. When you do, let us know.

We have quite a conversation going about CKS's future, as of this posting, Michigan has still not contacted DeFKA head David Williams according to the Detroit News. Click here to join the conversation and see why I think Kevin is trying to have it both ways. Unless something changes, today's Hotline Hot Topic will be about CKS's future, but if you've got a better idea, let me know.

Big weekend for the tennis teams as the men host #22 Tennessee today, and #1 Georgia on Saturday at the Currey Tennis Center. The #21 women's team will travel to #26 UT today, and play the #5 Georgia Dawgs on Saturday. The women have won 11 straight matches, and are undefeated in SEC play.

Thanks to Dr. MZ for bring this article on Sanjaya's hair to my attention in today's Washington Post.

I wouldn't put money on kick-off, but since I'll likely be sleeping in one of two buildings very close to the stadium, I would be disappointed in myself if I didn't make it.

Stanimal, Kissam is not close to the stadium at all.

Chad,

All the frosh are now on Peabody. The play for Stanimal is reconnecting with some ASBer's who are still at Vanderbilt and strolling down the memory lane of service.
