Vanderbilt Hotline: The Cold War Thawed...

For those of you who know what the title refers to, great. We at Vanderbilt Sports Line consider this a brand new day and are very excited to be a part of the Vanderbilt sports network. For those of you who don't, don't worry about it, chances are you are just reading this because you know I am going to ask you about it later. As you can see, we have a new url: VanderbiltSportsLine.com and a few new links up for our old and new readers. Douglas James asked if the change means we are now revenue producing site. The answer to that question is, it's up to you. Buy something from the banner ads located to your right and we will be. You have the power to put very little money in our pocket, which is turn, will go back to the University and DeFKA.

There is a lot to talk about, but not a lot of "articles" to link to. There is a very exciting opportunity both for the Vanderbilt football team and for Commie fans everywhere. Athlon Sports is offering a limited edition Vanderbilt football cover, for their College Football preview. In order for this cover to be printed, they need to pre-sell 1,000 copies, which is where you come in. Currently, 149 covers have been sold and I want VSL fans to be the reason we get over the top. Click on this link, select the Vanderbilt cover, and buy it. I will be posting a thread later where you can let us know when (and it is a when, not an if) you've gotten your piece of Vanderbilt history.

There is an article out of Chicago Tribune linking Kevin Stallings to the Michigan job, and an article out of Iowa City saying Stallings is being mentioned for the Iowa job. They are also reporting that Andy Katz is reporting that Stallings is one of four people who will interview for the Michigan job during the Final Four. DeFKA head David Williams has not yet received a call seeking permission from either school.

Bobby 1, Papa O'Shea 0 as the Commies "pounded" MTSU 14-2 yesterday in Nashville. Vanderbilt broke open what was a relatively close game, according to the Murfreesboro Post, with a 6 run fifth inning. Brett Jacobson was "sharp" according to the Tennessean, he is now 5-1. OUr man Brett is also back with a vengence recaping the game in the Nashville City Paper. Vanderbilt will travel to Columbia for a three game series against the Gamecocks on Friday. This is a very big series as both teams are ranked in the top 5. Woody will have a preview tomorrow. For those planning your weekend, and still pissed about Vanderbilt basketball's hosing and thereby boycotting the Final Four, Vanderbilt's baseball game will be televised on Fox Sports. Check your local listing, but in DC, if you get the Comcast premium sports package (which I don't because according to someone, "I don't need it"), it will be on at 4pm on channel 262.

Two lady Commies, Dee Davis and Carla Thomas, have been invited to WNBA camp. The bowlers have been invited to the NCAA Tournament, although I hope the officials will not ignore the opposing team blatantly "fouling" and sliding over the line in this championship like they did last Friday. (Yes, I was able to channel my bitterness about that into a bowling story...pretty impressive, huh?). The #12 Lady Laxers bested Cal 9-6 yesterday behind Margie Curran's 5th hat-trick of the season.

Since people hate the American Idol chat, I will be brief. I got 2 out of the bottom 3, although I was wrong about who was voted off ultimately voted off(Chris Sligh). The fact that Chris is gone and Sanjaya is not is unbelievable unfair, although if I am every other contestant, the longer he is in, the better I feel about my chances.

Finally, my lady friend sent me this article from Pinkisthenewblog.com that proves why Nashville is really the place to be:

The most famous bar band in the world got together Monday night on Demonbreun Street, played for more than three hours and then disbanded. The occasion was Kenny Chesney's 39th birthday party, the venue was the funky little Tin Roof, and the scene was surreal. Chesney leaked word to his fan club members online, and by midday the Tin Roof was Nashville's top tourist destination ... When the show got going at 6:30 p.m., Chesney and his band ran through a relatively normal set list, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. By night's end, the band had gone beyond Chesney's material and into Rolling Stones, U2 and John Mellencamp covers, all to the screeching delight of the shoulder-to-shoulder audience. There was Chesney, onstage with Kix Brooks, singing "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone." There was Chesney, onstage with Gretchen Wilson, singing "Hurts So Good." There was Chesney, onstage with Wilson and John Rich and Jewel and Montgomery Gentry, singing "Sweet Home Alabama." And with much of that crew, plus 3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold, doing the Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" ... As is the case with many of Chesney's "Keg in the Closet" tours of college bars, the singer chose to be decidedly informal for the Nashville show. Instead of a cowboy hat and form-fitting stage-wear, he wore a St. Louis Cardinals ball cap, a white T-shirt and baggy shorts ... "This is going to be a big night," he told the crowd. "I've got so many friends coming to sing tonight." And it was, and he did, and they did. Only in Nashville.

American Idol still SUCKS bigtime.

Why not have Southpark on the blog instead? It's more realistic than that phoney-baloney American Idol crapola.

Leonardo DiCaprio should go on American Idol and sing like the retarded kid he played in "Gilbert Grape" or the druggie in "Basketball Diaries."
