Sorry?

The Braintrust, to a man, have been in the throes of new jobs and actual, real-life responsibilities (e.g., having kids).  It's not an excuse, but it's the truth.  Our bad.

What did we miss?  An SEC road win over a James Franklin-less Missouri team that's now in a fight with Kentucky to stay out of last place in the East?  Check.

A loss at home to #4 Florida before a sellout crowd who thought Vandy might actually pull out a W until Jeff Driskel took a zone read 70 yards in the 4th quarter and reminded us what it is that makes us Vandy fans?  Check.

Vandy backing out of the Ohio State game and the home-and-home with Northwestern by notifying our opponents through USPS mail, with VCDW saying of CJF's role in the decision, “He is my football coach and my job is try make it for him and his athletes to have what they need. You can read into that whatever you choose.”?  Cue the David Letterman shirt-collar-pull...

On Saturday, Vanderbilt faces off against Auburn, coming in as an 8-point favorite at home.  Having watched some of Auburn's struggles this season, I'd say that line is probably about right.  As such, I'm not sure whether this could fairly be called the first "signature win" of the James Franklin Era -- the Tigers have been abysmal on offense and are basically in a full-blown free fall at this point -- but it would certainly be a momentum victory as the Dores (2-4, 1-3) go to work on the easier half of a pretty favorable 2012 schedule.

How is it possible that the season is halfway over?

I love Vandy, but both the fact that we replace OSU and NU with cupcakes, and the manner in which we did it, is a complete disgrace.
