Commodores Fall in SEC Tournament Championship; Still Slated to Host Regional

The Gators bested Vanderbilt 5-0, although the game was ultimately decided by 2 unearned runs in the Florida second. Vanderbilt will still host a Regional at Hawkins Field, with the Commodores likely to draw a national seed (1-8) and a first game match-up against either Belmont or Austin Peay.

By the way, I pared 17 and 18 at the TPC-Sawgrass Stadium Course (was +32 on the day). Even though it was from the whites, I'm pretty pleased with myself. For all doubters, I've got video.

Ticket information for the regional should be available on VUCommodores.com, also don't forget to join the NCC if you haven't already done so. The deadline for the Commodores On Board program is Tuesday, May 31. To date, VSL has raised over $4,300 and added 21 new members to the NCC.

Happy Memorial Day

Weak showing by the team today on offense and defense - I hope that it is Belmont as AP smoked us a few years ago.

It'll depend on what happens to the other Atlantic Sun teams. Mercer and ETSU have both been projected as the Nashville 3 seed. If either of those come in, it'll almost certainly be Peay. Troy was also mentioned for a 3-seed.

For whatever it's worth, Belmont played Vandy pretty well early this year. Gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits, but errors killed them.

I remember when Gee removed the athletic department tag from the Vandy athletic department he talked a great deal about his desire to reform big time college sports, seems like now would be a great opportunity to make a real impact. Anyone think he will sieze the opportunity to do so? I doubt it.
