Commodores Find a Way to Win: Top MTSU 1-0 in Murfreesboro

Anthony Gomez, who extended his hitting streak to 29, scored the game's only run in the 6th inning to give the Commodores the slimest of leads against the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State. 5 Vanderbilt pitchers allowed just 3 hits over 9 innings to get the W. The Commodores travel to Columbia for a 3-game set against the defending National Champion Gamecocks of South Carolina. South Carolina is currently ranked 3rd, with the Saturday and Sunday's games set to be televised on CSS and ESPN2, respectively. Both games will also be available on ESPN3.com. After sweeping Auburn and Alabama and with #3 South Carolina up next, it must be hard to get excited over playing a game at mtsu. But still got the win - that's the main thing.

If you saw U2 in concert and had tickets to see Roger Waters the next weekend but had to watch an episode of american idol in between the two...

And the fact remains that Vandy found a way to win, while 6 conference teams lost yesterday (including a 2-0 SC loss to The Citadel).

It doesn't mean anything of course. The Gamecocks are still a fierce opponent who got caught looking ahead. But it's nice to see this team gut one out on a bad off day.

Congratulations to UT on extending their losing streak, this time against Appy State. Maybe they were looking ahea...no, who am I kidding.

It's time CTC gets his face on the mural!

Agreed -- although it doesn't look like they've left enough room for his mug and a shot of Hawkins Field. Unless of course they go second story with it, which I would be in favor of.

They could ditch Melanie Balcomb's photo off the mural. At least until she restores that program to where it ought to be.
