The Vanderbilt DC Alumni group is throwing an event this Saturday, March 5, 2010 at UNION JACK's in Arlington to watch the Men's b-ball squad take on the Florida Gators. The game starts at 6pm.
However, the reason we're pimping the event is that Douglas James will be there as an ambassador for the National Commodore Club. As many of you know as part of the "Dores on Board" campaign, Vanderbilt Sports Line is trying to get 40 new NCC members and donations of $5,000. We are making progress but definitely have more work to do.
I would remind Commodore fans that one of the 1st round sites is Washington, DC's Verizon Center, becoming a member of the NCC will give you preference in purchasing tickets if that's where Vanderbilt is sent. Today is the deadline for NCC members to make initial requests, so by joining, you can give yourself a better chance of getting seats for DC (and all the other venues for the Tournament). When you contribute, be sure to but "VSL" or "Vanderbilt Sports Line" in the special comments section.
I'm not going to be hassling anyone at the bar (especially during the game) but will have some information about the NCC as well as some nice freebies and even a pretty huge raffle prize to give away at halftime.
So come on down in you live in the DC area. Union Jack's is located at 671 N. Glebe Road (inside the Ballston Commons Mall) in Arlington, VA.
