Rankings Released: Commodores Dropped from AP and Coaches Poll

The Commodores stay in the top 25 didn't last long. After losing to South Carolina 83-75 to open SEC play, Vanderbilt dropped from #24 to "others receiving votes" (31st overall) in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Commodores also fell out of the AP poll, falling from #22 to 31st.

UGA is ranked now. Georgia is a very winable game.

At some point we may need to start an Ogilvy watch for JT. At the start of the season there was talk of him going NBA 1st round. He's averaging 14.5 PPG.

I'll second that VUDreamin. However, I think the athleticism Taylor has may negative his inability to take over a game.

There's no doubt Scuba that his athleticism makes him a potent force on the floor. During 1 game this season he scored 27 pts. The problem is that there have been stretches where he's disappeared from the game effectively. There's no doubt that had Taylor scored just 10 pts. during the WVU game, we would've won it.

I guess it's frustrating as a fan that for the 2nd straight season we've got a star player who could be SEC Player of the Year and a 1st Round NBA draft pick, who underperforms for reasons unrelated to physical injury. I can't think of another major conf. program where this occurs once, much less than 2 yrs. in a row.

Agree with all the comments above. I’m not panicking about this team because everything that went wrong in the loss @ SC can be fixed. Really, we just need to play with more intensity. Tomorrow night is a big game and I’m feeling a win.

I also want more intensity from the coaching staff. It’s hard to criticize CKS and his staff but there is one thing I know they don’t do… they don’t get the team pumped up for a big game. I’ve heard Stallings say he doesn’t do that because those techniques (message boards, pre-game speeches, etc.) never worked for him. Now one could argue its best if we face every opponent calm, collected, and go in following the game plan; however I never see this staff fired up. Again, its hard for me to criticize this staff because they have done a great job but if they psychedthe team up before big games maybe we wouldn’t lose to Murray St. in the first round of the NCAA tourni…

At the end of the day we are still a good team on the verge of greatness. We have a tought stretch to begin the season but I feel good about it...Go Dores

Wasn't Murray like 32-1? Yes, we blew it, but give Murray some credit in that one.

Speaking of "blowing" it...
american idol still blows...it
