The Waiting is the Hardest Part

I've going nothing to add, but at least thought we could use a soundtrack as we wait to find out who Vanderbilt's next Head Coach will be:

Now you're just stealing a VandySports poster's material.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I didn't get the "material" from anywhere.

VandySports does a great job, but referencing a song and embedding a link from YouTube that happened to show up in a thread on VandySports isn't stealing.

I'm more of a Green Day fan myself. Seriously though I am checking into Vandysports, ESPN.com, the Tennessean every 10 minutes. I have no patience.

I am trying to believe that this silence is good for Gus being named the HC. If he said no, surely they would let that info out so we would be positive for Monday's announcement of someone else. There haven't been any statement at any of the Auburn sites saying that he was staying. So so quiet. Looks like my chilled champagne will just need to chill for another day.

yeah my guess is the "silence" means one of two things......either they are still negotiating contract language or he is still contemplating whether to accept it or not. You would think they would have the contract language set already but who knows.

Williams has kept everything else quite so why not his decision. My thinking has been Malzahn will meet with the team first and tell them his decision. Much like how Mullen did before he went to Miss St. Didnt he ask them if they wanted him to coach in the NT game? If we got Malzahn, I never expected him to come here until after the NT game....

He's made up his mind. I think silence is key for us. If he was staying at Auburn, why wouldnt he just come out and say it? Theres a good article on Rivals about it, which talks about him not announcing his plans so he wouldnt take the spotlight of Cam's big day yesterday.

I dont want to be let down, so I keep telling myself he isnt coming. The fact Auburn hasnt come out and saying hes staying makes me think this whole deal could really be going down... Go Dores.

In the Rivals article, it also talks about how at the Broyles awards, which Malzahn won, all the nominated coaches were there wearing their school colors...except Malzahn. Really wanna look into it? Malzahn was wearing a black suit, white shirt, and gold tie.

Im starting to crack... I have to know

Also, apparently John Ingram's plane flew to NYC last night where Malzahn was attending the Heisman presentation. I also am constantly checking sites every 10 minutes looking for any positive signs.

Where is Wikileaks when we need them? Vanderbilt keeps a secret better that the State Department

Since we are all refreshing this page, and will talk about Malzahn and Vandy to a brick wall... Ill ask a question and yall respond...

1) On a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest, what do you think are our chances of Malzahn actaully coming to Vandy?

2) Why did you pick this number (ex. gut feeling, story you read - back it up with facts people)

1. 5
2. Gut feeling and b/c being a lifelong Vandy fan I am used to being let down

FB Rumor Mill is reporting that a source close to Greg Roman is saying that he is no longer in the running for the Vandy job. I don't know if that means b/c it's going to Malzahn or to Franklin but it certainly looks like it might be down to just those two.

1. 7
2. With Florida, Arkansas and Miss St. off the table, Vandy and $3 million has to be enticing. All things seem to be falling for Vandy, for once.

2. Hopeful gut feeling and I've been reading about him at some of the Auburn sites. They describe him as extremely intense and driven. I think he might see Vandy as a challenge that he could transform.

Btw, all the Maryland sites are very quiet about this. Franklin apparently is a great recruiter and if he comes to Vandy could open up the mid- Atlantic as a viable area for us to get good and smart talent. But still I do think it will be Gus.

1) 8
2) The saying "its quite, almost to quite" is coming into play. If he was staying at Auburn, I think he would have come out and put an end to the rumors. And there's the whole $3 million part to the story

Im also not going to hate on the idea of Franklin. He could be an awesome head coach depending on how he recruits and who he picks as his OC and DC. If Williams has in narrowed down between Malzahn and Franklin, Im going to trust his judgement on this one... hes done a good job with the search.

Quite quiet.

(This is a Vanderbilt blog, right?)

I like the enthusiasm though.

Bahaha thanks AD, and I'm still a Vandy fan! Who says Vandy fans are only smart white guys. 1/2 of that is right for me (for those of you who wanted to know my race).

um...we got him?

DID THIS JUST HAPPEN?! NEED MORE CONFIRMATION BEFORE GOING COMPLETELY APE!!!

Anonymous said...

I am going absolute nuts right now. This better be true or someone really hates me.

Vandygal78 said...

Oh my! I'm scared I will jinx it if I pop the champagne before confirmation. If true, this could be the greatest day in Vanderbilt football history. Can you imagine what our players are feeling right now? I have a lot to say about this, but I can't until someone gets confirmation.
