Football Scoop Report: Maryland's Running Backs Coach John Donovan to be Vanderbilt's Offensive Coordinator.

UPDATE (11:04)

More from FootballScoop.com: Vanderbilt: We are hearing that James Franklin is interested in Miami (FL) defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff.

Here's the link to FootballScoop.com. Here is John Donovan's bio from the University of Maryland's website. If this is true, one has to wonder whether either Des Kitchens or Herb Hand will be with the Commodores next season.

If Hand or Kitchings (sp?) were from XYZ University out there in (wherever) and XYZ went 2-10 last year and was 112th nationally in scoring offense...how much would you be pushing for them to be added to the new staff?

???????????????????????????

vandysports.com is reporting other MD assistants will be coming too. Don't have access to subscriber content, so don't know for sure what their reports are saying.

I don't like the idea of Franklin bringing over the majority of the terrapin staff. one or two assistants, maybe...but any more than that would not give me much confidence is sweeping change.

Vanderbilt gained 1,666 yards on 421 carries and 13 TDs last season, good for just under 4 yards per carry.

Maryland backs gained 1,499 yards on 395 carries and 15 TDs, good for 3.79 yards per carry.

Why is the new OC coming from Maryland again?

I can tell you that you guys will be getting an outstanding person and offensive coordinator in Coach Donovan. He is a young energetic guy, knows football really well. I have been a Maryland football fan for the past ten years, and if Coach Friedgen had stayed I was hoping we would have named him our OC. No it isnt the big named guy, I am sure you were hoping for. But trust me you guys will be happy with the results.

Agreed, especially with Marylands staff being shown the door, Terp coordinators and coaches are going to need jobs. However, Kitchens and Hnad are the only two coaches the fans want retained so maybe it will help. They also kept this years recruits together, CJF has to give them a look for doing that. They are good coaches and I hope he wont get rid of the them soley for change.

In other news, I went to stubhub to get tickets for the Vandy MTSU game and they werent any available. Are there alot of Vandy fans out there going?

Face value on mtsu tickets are 20.00 with lots of good seats available.

Somebody on one of the other boards mentioned 2nd row of section F being still available through ticketmaster.

I think $20 is about twice their normal ticket price.

There was also something about an "indoor tailgate party" for VU at a place called "slick pig" near mtsu(?) I think it said 630 or 7oclock
