Will NCAA Investigation Lead to Bruce Pearl Being Fired?

This has already been discussed several times on this blog but according to both Andy Katz and Gary Parrish, there is a definite possibility that the NCAA comes down with harsher sanctions than the self imposed ones by UT, which if done could lead to Pearl either resigning or being fired.

I mean according to these articles it appears that Pearl lied to NCAA investigators about not one but TWO separate incidents. If Dez Bryant gets suspended for most of the year about lying to the NCAA about one incident (which it turned out was not even a violation), then Pearl should be suspended for at least a year for lying about 2 incidents which WERE violations. A Coach, who is supposed to be an authority figure and who is supposed to know the rules much better than a player SHOULD in my book get a harsher penalty than a player. Especially when he has lied twice and about actual violations. And if the NCAA is going to suspend Pearl for an extended amount of time then I don't see how UT could possibly not fire him?

It is going to be a very interesting couple of weeks in UT basketball land, that's for sure. And I don't mind saying it that the Commies and CKS should reap a lot of the benefits on that uncertainty.

I agree with your logic, Douglas. There haven't exactly been a throng of Mr. Spocks running the NCAA though, so I wouldn't be surprised if Pearl dodges suspension.
