VSL Hotline: Lolly-Gagging to the Huddle, Edition

Mike Organ's story in today's Tennessean focuses on yesterday's practice, specifically, the fact it was extended because the team failed to run to midfield to the final huddle. I would suspect that will be the last time that happens since the result was additional sprints.

The Organ article also talks about Vanderbilt's punt return team, and who is likely, with the departure of Alex Washington, to take over as the returner. WR John Cole is the early favorite according to the story, as much because of his talent, as because the other two, Jamie Graham and Zac Stacy are battling injuries and therefore seeing limited action.

The Nashville City Paper focuses on the defense in today's edition, looking at safety Sean Richardson. Specifically, the coaching staff is hoping to improve the hard-hitting safeties skills as a pass defender. Given the evolution and maturation of players like D.J. Moore and Myron Lewis in recent years, one has to think Richardson is in good hands with this coaching staff.

The AP's Paul Newberry makes the Tennessean with his story on Mike Minor's first career Major League win for the Atlanta Braves. The rookie was rewarded by his teammates with a beer shower after the Braves' 10-2 victory last night at Turner Field.
