John Jenkins Interview on NBADraft.net

I know it's football season. I know CRC did a fantastic job at the SEC Media Days, but you know something, I'm talking basketball anyway.

NBADraft.net did an interview with John Jenkins about his offseason workouts and some of his off-the-court goings on. Jenkins has moved to the #26 slot of the First Round in their 2012 NBA Draft projections.

Jay Bilas also gave JJ the title of "Best Shooter in the Country" during one of his chats a couple of weeks ago. While some who haven't seen JJ shoot the rock tried to refute it, I think that the consensus amongst those in the know is that it's pretty much not even close.

Anyway, just a little something to ponder. Perhaps the pundits who think we'll finish 5th in the SEC East behind Kentucky, Tennessee, UGA, and Florida should look a tad more closely.

Ok, back to football.

I have to think JJ and Jeff are going to have every opportunity to dramatically up their scoring average this season without AJ and Beal on the team. I think there is a chance these guys both average 18+ a game if things work out.

Some negative press for JJ....

Hilarity that anyone would bother to claim that paper as being worthy of America's Dumbest Student Athlete. Just another example of internet idiocy.

By the way, NO integrity whatsoever from the kid who submitted that paper to Deadspin.

Compared to THIS which was written by a ut football player and the source is ESPN which I think we've all heard of...

"I have learn a lot of the things about Madommon thought her videos, hearing to her music and Magizines Articiles people wrote about her. Both in positives and negivites ways. They should not be a double standard for men and women. Because if they are double videos, they could be Double standard everywhere."

In fairness, Jenkins' paper was lackluster, uninspired, jejune, etc... but it wasn't indicative of a lack of intellect. I teach freshman comp classes at another SEC school, and that would have been a D paper for me. This means I get worse from non-athletes, as about 20% fail each semester. From what I've seen, it looks like Jenkins got a topic that bored him, and his effort reflected that. Now some of the other deadspin dumb student-athlete nominees... they frighten me. For example, a former DePaul basketball player (unnamed, but probably Quentin Richardson): http://deadspin.com/5586072/the-search-for-americas-dumbest-student+athlete-starts-now

Did you ever have the "Madommon" thesis writer in your class?

That's what happens when state school let in jocks who struggled to make a 15 on the A C T
