UPDATE:
The ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll has Vanderbilt ranked 19, amazingly enough, 1 spot BEHIND the Volunteers, who they have beaten twice. Further proof that the Coaches poll is worthless.

Are the coaches actually joking by ranking Tennessee ahead of us? Because I mean, if that's a joke, all I can say is nice execution.

In defense of the coaches, if you take away the games against Vandy, UTenn actually has a better record than us... so, logic says if two teams are close, then you should completely disregard any head-to-head match-ups and look at who is better against Southwestern TN technical institute of the appalachias... and then blindly vote for UTenn ahead of Vandy.
I'm sorry, but that last explanation (and the "logic" behind it) doesn't hold water.
1) You can't just "take away" ANY games. I agree that head-to-head should not count ANY MORE than other games, but you can't just arbitrarily eliminate them, either.
2) Including all games against D-1 opponents, Vandy has a HIGHER RPI than Tennessee.
3) Vandy also has a BETTER OVERALL RECORD than UT.
4) Vandy also has a BETTER CONFERENCE RECORD than UT.
The only "excuse" is that coaches outside the conference are so focused on their own teams and conferences that they don't have a clue what's going on elsewhere.
That supports Mr. O'Shea's original comment – that the Coach's poll is useless.
I read the first Anonymous' comment as being sarcastic.

As a proud alumnus of SWTTIoA, I am offended by your dismissal of our basketball program as inconsequential. The Fightin' Snake Handlers are no pushover. And although we played neither Vandy or UT, we could kick all their asses. Good day, sir.
