Matchup to Watch: Toliver vs. Lewis

If you're itching for a storyline to look forward to next Saturday, start thinking about the Myron Lewis - Terrance Toliver matchup. LSU will be a serious test in their first home game at night in the Valley. Toliver and his shifty after-the-catch moves are the reason the Bayou Bengals escaped from Seattle with a W against an upstart Washington Huskies team on Saturday. Four grabs for 117 yards (a lot of which were YAC) and two touchdowns -- not a bad start for a guy who only scored one TD and about twice as many yards the entire 2008 season. As good as Vandy's defense was last year, it was still susceptible to the big play at times. A Baton Rouge night game might not be the ideal place to try to reverse that trend, but you never know. With a Bronko Nagurski Watchlister covering TT and the #4 total offense and #5 total defense in the country coming to town (no, those aren't LSU's numbers, they're Vandy's; and yes, I know they mean nothing at this point), we might just be too much for the Tigers to handle...

Vanderbilt secondary dares teams to throw by Jeff Lockridge in today's Tennessean is a good companion to Seamus' stellar analysis.
