Moments ago, Andre Simmons verbally committed to play football for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Simmons, a 6'1", 190 lb Rivals 3-star defensive back from Lorton, VA, chose Vandy over the likes of Boston College, Rutgers, West Virginia, Maryland, UVA and Northwestern.
Simmons is listed as running a 4.55. While his bench and squat numbers aren't very impressive (245 and 335, respectively), he's been on the radar of a ton of college coaches because of how smart he is and how intelligently he commands defensive schemes as a safety for South County in Northern Va. I'm excited to see what the coaches can do with him after a year of physical development. More than anything, it's nice to see Vandy pick up its 18th 3-star recruit out of a class that's already 21 strong.
