VSL Hotline: Day 2 of Practice Analyzed

Jeff Lockridge has two articles in today's Tennessean. The first delves into the title musical chairs the Commodores coaching staff underwent this off-season, specifically moving Bruce Fowler to assistant head coach, and naming Jamie Bryant the defensive coordinator.

Lockridge's second story is a little more meaty as far as I'm concerned. Jared Hawkins took Saturday's practice easy, as the coaching staff doesn't want to push the only experienced running back the Commodores have. Wide Receivers were in short order Saturday according to David Boclair's story in the Nashville City Paper including Udom Umoh and redshirt-freshmen John Cole and Akeem Dunham. Also sitting out was Terrance Jeffers-Harris, who is still not sure if he will be eligible to play this season. CBJ has said he will not comment on Terrance's status until grades are handed in. Still, there certainly seems reason to be pessimistic about whether Jeffers-Harris will be suiting up for the Commodores this season. If the coaching staff thought they'd have the UConn transfers services, I doubt they'd be so reticent.
