Was there even a game on Saturday?

Don't know, don't care. Not going to post about it but also not surprised.

Let's talk rather about the Men's Basketball team, who hosted an exhibition game yesterday at Memorial Gym against University of Alabama-Huntsville. The Commodores came away the winners 84-65. CKS decided to go with a starting rotation for the exhibition of Beal, Drake, Taylor, Ezeli, and A.J. Naturally, A.J. led the way with 25 points and 4 boards, but there were encouraging performances by many of the young guns. Jeffrey Taylor had a good performance scoring 16 on 7-8 shooting. Steve Tchiengang contributed 11 and went 5-5 from the field. Lance also played well off the bench with 6 points. Brad Tinsley struggled, going 0-6 from the field and only collecting one point on a free throw.

Can't forget about the older guys as well. Andre Walker was a monster around the glass grabbing 7 boards and McClellan contributed 5 assists. Dolla was solid with 8 but George Drake struggled only going 1-5 from the field. He did have 4 boards though. Festus got in some foul trouble it looks like which limited his minutes.

Quite excited to see Taylor racking in 16 like that and Steve T. getting 11 off 100% shooting from the field. Of course, always encouraging to see A.J. dominate the post. Can't wait to watch the first televised Commies game against Illinois on FSN (assuming that I get it).

we have a football team? huh.... didn't know that.

taylor looked really good and he's a real athlete. should be exciting to watch. aj, like the beginning of last year before SEC play, was dominant. both of these should have big years. i think festus starts every game for jump ball. aj seems to struggle w/ that and festus can start and provide us a chance to win that. i see him getting pulled fairly quickly every game just like he was in the exhibition after jump. i was disappointed in tinsley, i thought he was our best shooter! lance looked ok, but did anyone else think he looked really awkward on the floor? like he's uncomfortable dribbling? i don't know, he looked young but i think he can def shoot.

again, football? i really didn't know we had a team...

Can't wait to see Taylor play. I have a feeling this won't be the 1-2 dunk per game basketball team I am used to seeing. I thought it was interesting that Stallings didn't have the team run any set plays or in bounds. It was basically an extended scrimmage and he just let the guys think for themselves.

I'm not sure I can disagree more about Lance. While he looked like he was unwilling to create his own shot most of the time, he is the first person I have seen in years who can get into the lane and create off the dribble.

The most encouraging thing about the scrimmage (in my mind) was the play of Steve Tchiengang. While there were times he made frosh mistakes (a couple of stupid fouls), his stroke looked good and he has the body of a college player. And the dunk he had towards the end of the first half? Sick.
