VSL Hotline: Goodbye to Brett, Edition

Before I get to the meat of my post this morning, a sad note to pass on. The Man We Love to Hait's last day at the Nashville City Paper was Saturday Night. While Brett "went out on top," with Vanderbilt's 14-13 win over Auburn (I never get tired of saying that), his coverage of the Commodores will surely be missed by all of VSL Nation. Brett is headed to Atlanta and beginning a job at SportsIllustrated.com as a Web producer and editor. We're sure SI.com will be as well served by Brett's coverage as Vanderbilt sports fans were.

Taking over for Brett at the City Paper (at least for now...we think), is Matt Wilson (we're taking ideas for clever nicknames). Matt's got a piece in today's edition about how a "Bowl Game Now Within Commodores' Reach."

Mo Patton's Tennessean piece about the quarterback situation for the Commodores. While CBJ says that they hope Chris will play, after Mac's performance against Auburn, no one in VSL Nation will be too distraught about the back-up starting Saturday.

Vanderbilt's opened up as a 2.5-3 point favorite in Saturday's game. No over/under has been posted yet.

Haterade from Dennis Dodd at CBSSportsline.com saying he's taking Notre Dame over Vanderbilt, despite the hype surrounding the Commodores. I think that's a good call, what with the Irish's brutal schedule...

VSL is doing a link exchange with our friends from the Mississippi State Sports Blog on Saturday's game that will be posted later this week.

Shan signed to play ball in Italy for one season. The Mavericks retain his NBA rights.
