Something to Talk About...

As per Douglas James' request, here are some new topics to discuss and get things going again on the VSL. I've not nothing substantive to say right now since I'm just trying to make it through the end of the semester. Still, my unhappiness shouldn't poision the rest of you.

1) Where everyone goes in the draft? Williams/Goff/Earl/Gatewood and Horrocks even?
2) Baseball walk off against MTSU? Winning weekend series aganist Arkansas?
3) Jeff Taylor? Brad Tinsely?
4) Starting BBall lineup next year?
5) Starting QB? Spring practice

Got any thoughts on any of these topics? Sound off below...

Great article about Chris Williams development. Stuff like this has to help our recruiting correct?

Actually, there was an item on CNNSI.com last week about how all 32 pro teams had scouts at Vandy's pro day versus only 22 teams at Boston College. I think that speaks volumes for Vandy's growing program. Wish I had the link...

Heard a rumor that Tinsley might have narrowed his choices further and that we might be in a real good position to land him. If so, consider him your outside shooter as well as Goulbourne.

Apparently the Taylor kid is a good slasher as well, imagine how big a difference that would make in our offense. The only thing lacking from our offense last year was the ability to take it to the rack. If we can get someone with that kind of talent we'll be very dangerous in the years to come.

Taylor has us in his top 3 as well. Tinsley apparently has us in his 7, but Oregon, Vandy, and Wake appear to be tops in running. For Taylor, we have to go against Texas, but Texas is running low on scholarships. Gonzaga also wants Taylor.

Also concerning Taylor, they are chasing some other big names and he might not be the top of their list while Tinsley and Taylor are the only 2 tops targets remaining for Vandy

Starting lineup (assuming we dont get either of the T's to be conservative)

PG: Beal, Bell backing up
SG: George Drake....time for him to step up
SF: Walker
PF: Tshiengang.....he desparately needs a nickname!!!!!!
C: Croc

the only two that will definitely start are beal and AJ. not saying they won't have to battle it out as well and prove their worth again but they'll be there.

other than that i don't know. how good is ezeli? he's huge so i'm hoping he's good and some what coordinated. i really don't know enough about tshiengang or goulbourne but freshman don't normally start unless they're awesome. i agree w/ the drake comment. he really needs to step up and have a big year. its time.

T-Gang?

Once again, his name is pronounced "Chain gang," so the nickname is obvious. I posted this while he was being recruited, and someone took umbrage with the supposed racial overtones within the nickname. Consider this: is not the real racism believing that the prison work-camp chain gang would be stocked only with African-Americans? Not only horribly racist, it's a bit myopic, as well. Think of the chain gangs in cinema... from "Sullivan's Travels" to "Cool Hand Luke" to "Take The Money And Run," there have been prison workers of every race (except asian... and pacific islanders, I suppose). Furthermore, these chain gangs were predominantly white. The nickname, therefore, refers to his ability to "bind the team together" and "carry the whole team by himself," rather than whatever connotations the naysayers had in mind. Food for thought.

Other option: The one man gang.

What we need to do is find some recruit whose name is "Irvin" and then AJ because the Crocidile hunter and we have "Steve, Irvin, Crocidile Hunter"......but our SEC opponents might say they are "Stingrays".....whatever

CRAP.........according to Rivals.com Keagan Bell is transfering.....now we really need Tinsley!!!

Depending on how "The one man gang" Tshiengang, Ezeli, and Goulbourne develop we should be pretty good in the depth category. Also, don't forget about Hinkle, he looks like he has some promise. As far as Bell leaving, I'm fine with that. He started the season of well and then seemed to burn out in the end. Drake and Walker need to step it up as well as McClellan. I still can't get over why Stallings took Jamie Ghraham out of the game. Let's hope he learns from that mistake and focuses on defense this time around.
