VSL Poll Question: If the Commies don't go to a Bowl, Should CBJ be Fired?

The thread below seems to be discussing this, but I am curious to see where VSL Nation comes down on this. I invite everyone who reads this blog to either vote in the comments section or send an email to Vanderbilt Sports Line's Inbox for our intern to compile over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Voting will close on Sunday at 12pm and will be posted Monday Morning.

I think it's too soon to say. If CBJ wins a sixth game next week, there's no way he is fired. Still, I think he has taken the VU program as far as he can. http://www.insidevandy.com/drupal/node/5727

Here's some more extensive thoughts.

For those of you sticking around Nashville over Thanksgiving...check out the trivia night at Nashville's Most Wanted Pizza (207 Woodland St, across from LP field)- the show is this Wednesday (and every wednesday) at 7:30pm

It's a really fun trivia show thats free to play...and they always ask some good college football questions. check out the website www.trivianightnashville.com for more info

No. Regardless of what happens, Bobby's done just enough to keep his job. However, a Dan Aykroyd look-a-like should be hired as offensive coordinator, they should be adamant that they are, in fact, Yugoslavian brothers. And they should be constantly on the prowl for "foxes" with "big American breasts."

(For those of you who are completely befuddled by this post: CBJ looks exactly like Steve Martin. That's all I'm giving you. And I was serious about the O-coordinator getting canned. I can't take another 4th quarter of "playing not to lose.")

Heck no. Next year will be the year!

No way he should be fired!

Vandy should get his signature on a lifetime contract. VU will never get a better one.

As the season of giving approaches us...I will personally volunteer Houston Nutt to coach the commies.

I can't see them firing CBJ after two five-win seasons out of the last three years. He's done enought to keep the job, but needs to show constant improvement, and with the talent we lose to Graduation this year, it makes me wonder what is going to happen next year.

Yes, he should be fire, i refuse to be happy with back to back 5 win seasons. This was his year, his talent, and his best shot at a bowl, and he came up short. We wont have a team this good for at least 3 years, and if we dont fire him now we are never going to improve and are going to have to continually settle for 1 good season or 1 big win every 4 years.

HELLS no!

Aaron, none of us are satisfied (though after 2 decades of VU fandom, I'm not crying about 14 wins in 3 years), but the rest of us are sane enough to realize that 20+ years of futility is not ended in so quickly.

Show a little patience. Next year's team could be quite good if his coaching and recruits have improved like they seem to have done. If we win less than 4 games next year, then my thoughts on this might change, but right now this university needs a coach to believe in and a little stability from the administration.

August, i am not saying that i expect change to happen overnight but CBJ has been there since 2002, at what point do we expect more? Next year, 5 years? Ten years? Sacrificing stability for a better coach or a new direction is warranted at times.

Furthermore, we are going to be awful next year.

I'm not writing off next year: Both lines will have big losses, butotherwise our best players BY FAR this year have been sophomores/juniors who will be back.

I'm hoping that if somebody out of the Adams/Nickson/Funk/Smith cluster grabs the reigns and Earl comes back, with CJG (never was a fan) and Handfeldt (I think his locker spot already says 'Fowler' above it) replaced, we may be better than most people think...
