Vanderbilt Hotline: This was gonna be a good one, Edition

Unfortunately, the "save now" button decided to screw me.

So, I will try to recreate what was a great post that will now be a shadow of its former self.

In the wake of Vanderbilt baseball's successful season, and the overwhelming support the team got over the course of the year, DeFKA is looking to expand Hawkins Field. Brett Hait writes in today's Nashville City Paper that the goal is to create a "Cameroon Indoor"-esque atmosphere for Hawkins. I happen to think its a fantastic idea, and yet another indication that guru David Williams and the the rest of DeFKA get it. Between a new Hawkins Field and Memorial Gym, Vanderbilt is looking to transform themselves and their home-turf into a significant advantage. Vanderbilt recognizes that it doesn't have to be the biggest school in the SEC to be a tough place to play.

Moving now to football, the paperwork came through on VA Tech transfer Brandon Barden, who is now waiting to see whether the NCAA will waive their rule that transfers must sit out a year. Barden is applying for an exemption in light of the shootings in Blacksburg earlier this year. The Tennessean and VUCommodores.com have the stories. A "Fearless Prediction" from the Nightly Daily has Vanderbilt going to a blog.

Vanderbilt lost its first coach of the year, as women's golf coach Martha Richards is headed to the University of Texas. The Tennessean and the City Paper have the stories.

Lock it Up got a game closer to .500 with a 8-3 win over Special Sauce. Taking a page from Vanderbilt baseball, Lock it Up relied on a 6-run 2nd to jump out ahead. With Woody making a triumphant return to the hill, the defense (despite only having 9) came up big. Props to Johnny Campus for getting us to the nine-man mark and allowing us to play. Lock it Up plays next Tuesday night at 10pm, and there is talk of a pre-game dunko.

Seamus almost hit a home-run off a guy who threw a no-hitter in the Majors...I played pick-up basketball once with Macaulay Culkin, but that's not nearly as cool.

Part Two of the Wedding post is up on Mealmart...and it's another gem.

I find people are more likely to comment if there is already one comment in the comments section. We'll see if my theory pans out.

Seamus did you really almost hit a homer off Verlander in Little League? That's an even better story than the time Patrick Ewing Jr. posterized me in high school.

While we're on this home advantage kick, we should make Dudley an all-gold turf. look at the effect of the blue field on Boise state.

Welcome back College Radio, America Idol's been off for a little while now. I've moved on (until next season or their new band show spin-off starts) you should to.

Don't Run makes a fantastic point. The Golden Grass would be more than our opponents SEC or otherwise could handle.

Who the heck is "college radio"???

Is he the smarter version of the dumb equipment manager of that high school team in South Carolina?

The one they made the cheesy movie about??

I'm neither.
