Derrick Byars drafted by Portland, but is he headed to Philly?

That is the proposed trade on the table according to ESPN. I'm glad he's out of the green room, but I am really disappointed he didn't go in the first round. Shan Foster, you're gonna have to get us to 4.

First of all, let me say I can't believe Byars lasted until 42. He'll be on the all rookie team if he gets some significant minutes with Philly (bank on that). As a Sixers fan, I was yelling from pick #21, #30, #38, and #42 for them to draft Byars (as well as demanding they trade up to get him once they picked Cook--then traded him--at #21). Did none of these scouts watch college basketball this year? It seems they're more content to pick foreign guys they have no intention of bringing over, leaving them in the de-facto minor leagues of Europe. Why? I honestly can't tell you.

This is an outrage as far as I'm concerned. And I don't think I'm being a complete Vandy homer either. Friends with no Vanderbilt affiliation have been emailing and texting to say DB got hosed.

What's hilarious is that Banecker's probably right - his redemption may be a big rookie season where he sees significant playing time, then laughs all the way to the bank...
