Vanderbilt wins another close one...

Vanderbilt beat #1 South Carolina 4-3 in 12 innings in Columbia. South Carolina tied the score at 3 in the bottom half of the 8th, forcing David Price from the game. Casey Weathers came in in relief and pitched 4.1 innings to get the win. Ryan Davis drove in David Macias for the winning run in the top of the 12th. This was a big win for Vanderbilt as they will send freshman hurler Matt Minor to the mound tomorrow. Seamus made the point tonight that Vanderbilt needs to win when he is on the hill. While he might not have gotten the "W," the Commies did, and that's all that matters. Vanderbilt is now 25-3 overall and 4-3 in the SEC.

I also wanted to mention that the Vanderbilt women's tennis team earned their first win in Knoxville since 1983. The ladies have now won 12 straight and are undefeated in SEC play. The men's tennis team lost to UT at home 6-1.
