Polls Released

Vanderbilt is ranked #23 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and #19 in Associated Press Poll (Stanimal and I were right on the money!). This marks the first time since weeks 7-10 of the 2003-2004 season where Vanderbilt has been ranked in both national polls in consecutive weeks. If you aren't impressed with that stat, then honestly, why are you reading this blog anyway?

I'm a little surprised at how much the AP likes us. That loss to MSU was BAD, and they still think we're worthy of #19. Not saying I disagree with them, I'm just a little surprised that 9 losses didn't hurt us more.

It's also worth mentioning that our RPI has been steadily trending upward and currently stands at #29.

Vandy basically played poorly in both games this past week. The difference was where they were playing. Vandy can play poorly at home and still win. They didn't really do anything too well against UK except let the 'cats screw up.

The team believes they can come back at home because they know a couple big shots will get momentum and the crowd moving them in the right direction and make it difficult for the opposing coach to communicate his offense or defense to his teams (because of the bench locations...take two drinks).

All that being said I think the USC game is really important this week because we haven't had a good road win in a long time. I think it is important between now and the tourney to get some confidence on road and neutral courts. And we are getting dap because the quality of of wins not the quantity. Look at ND (who i don't mind saying i dissed to attend Vandy). They only have 6 loses yet are 2 spots below us in the AP (note they are ahead of us in the "Dancing w/ the Stars" promo...i mean ESPN poll
