Skuchas fouled out with 2 points at 4:15. He's 2 for 2 on the year in foul-outs. 4:12 left to play, and we've shot ourselves in the foot at the foul line down the stretch.
Most disturbing though is this stat: 42-20. That's the difference in point in the paint so far (84-74). We've been dominated down low, and that does not bode well for the style of basketball that will have to be played in the SEC this year.

Nothing better than in-game blogging...not having the pleasure (or pain, as it where) of watching this game, I have to rely on the stats coming across on the ticker. Looking at them though, it seems pretty clear that 1, Alex Gordon needs to be the starting point guard. This team is clearly having a tough go-around scoring (only 3 players in double digits, compared to Wake's 5); 2, Ross Neltner needs to play D without fouling. This guy is perpetually in foul trouble, and as much potential as he might show when he is on the floor, if he isn't out there, it doesn't much matter, does it?
If they start the year out 0-2, at what point can I start demanding Stallings' head?

Wake 47% from the floor.
Outscored us by 8 at the free throw line (and won by 10) and beat us 42-24 in the paint.
Smith's 9 assists helped spread the ball and they had 4 guys in double figures.

We MUST be able to contain opposing point guards. They penetrated our defense all night, and when they did, we fouled them. They shot 34 (count em) 34 free throws, made 23 of them, and that was the difference.
Defense = fundamentals + desire.
The lackluster showing on the right side of that equation translates into what we saw (or read about) tonight.
