Vanderbilt Lands Major 2013 Basketball Target

We interrupt our football coverage for a brief ray of light surrounding the basketball program.

Vanderbilt has received a commitment from 6'9" 2013 PF/C Damian Jones of Louisiana.  Jones is ranked #79 in the nation by Rivals, #72 by ESPN,  Scout and #42 by 247 Sports.

Make no mistake, this was a huge get for Stallings and his staff.  After striking out on most of the major prospects last year, Stallings nevertheless managed to refill the stable with some high upside wing players who will need some development time.  In Jones, Stallings has landed a fantastic post talent to address Vanderbilt's primary weakness.  This team will likely be a couple of years away from getting back to the dance, but landing a prospect like Jones is the key to getting them there.
