Vanderbilt and Brooks Brothers: Sounds About Right

And you thought Vanderbilt couldn't get any preppier.

According to this story in Bloomberg News today (h/t Mrs. O'Shea), you will soon be able to buy officially licensed Vanderbilt apparel at Brooks Brothers. The story by Scott Soshnick notes that 15 schools, including Harvard, Princeton, Notre Dame, the U.S. Naval Academy and Stanford will now have gear available at Brooks Brothers retailers. Vanderbilt is not the only SEC school represented in this deal as Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia will also have their school's merchandise sold by Brooks Brothers. According to the story:
Merchandise affiliated with the Ivy League schools and NYU will be exclusive to the Brooks Brothers store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. It’ll also be available online. The other schools are available at the nearest Brooks Brothers store as well as each school’s campus bookstore . . .

[Karl Haller, vice president of strategy and business development for Brooks Brothers] noted that it’s commonplace for students at schools in the Southeastern Conference, which includes Alabama, Auburn and Georgia, to wear shirts and ties to football games.
Hey Scott, Vanderbilt's in the SEC, as well.

I'm e-mailed Scott to explain that Vandy is also in the SEC. I encourage others to do the same.

Let me preface my remarks by saying that it's been several years since I ordered apparel from the Vandy bookstore so things may have changed.

I have to say I have been disappointed with the Vandy bookstore to the point where I believe that over the phone and online ordering is dysfunctional. Several times I have placed orders and waited a long time to get them and / or the order has been wrong.

Probably a good idea that BB has been licensed to issue the apparel and will try ordering from there.
