"This is not a great team. This is a legacy team."

Thus spake Tim Corbin in describing the 2011 Vanderbilt Commodores' level of selflessness and focus.

Dore fans have good reason to be excited: A survey of sports headlines around the country reveals a roughly even split between articles touting the role that great pitching has played in Vanderbilt's rise to the College World Series and articles highlighting the hot bats and top-to-bottom offensive consistency the Commodores have displayed in the postseason.  Vandy just set an SEC record by having 12 players taken in the MLB draft, and no team in the country has more All-Americans on its roster (four).

But from where I sit, what ought to be most exhilarating to VSL Nation is the fact that CTC -- who is decidedly not a man prone to hyperbole and gushing -- is saying things like the above about this year's group of ballplayers.  Buckle your seat belts.
