I hate any and all non-BCS play us in the first round, and I don’t like this matchup. Via Kenpom: 47th kenpom ranking, 53 adj. offense, 5 adj. defense. Tempo is VERY slow, 295th…don’t get to the line 294th…not a good offensive rebounding team, but very good FG % and doesn’t turn the ball over.
They limit team’s field goal percentage and teams don’t get to the line against them.
My first reaction is we need to get Festus involved early and get Taylor some athletic plays. We CANNOT shoot 33 3pointers like we did against UF. We pound it early and we pound it often (a personal motto of mine). Open up the perimeter to Jenkins later.
Their biggest scoring threat is a 6'10" 225lb. player. He can shoot from the inside and the outside. Fine. Let Fes dominate the inside and then let Goulbourne defend him outside. Agreed. it looks like they are better at handling the ball, but do not have the depth if we take it inside and get them into foul trouble. Btw, i would love to see Fes, at 265lb. vs 225lb. Going inside should free up our outside shooting.
I love this. we have the worst fourth seed in our bracket. we will still probably lose in the first round as usual b/c i haven't seen enough out of this team to make me believe otherwise. but we do have a great bracket for a sweet 16 run.
I think this team will be motivated. How could they not be? They are a laughing stock when it comes to the tourni and this year they are under the radar. I have a good feeling... I like this team
I know this is looking way down the road, and that the match up is unlikely, but I would love to emotionally crush Georgetown by beating them on a last second shot in the Elite 8.
If we get past Richmond, Louisville is the perfect 2nd round matchup for us. Reminds me a lot of our sweet 16 yrs where the first round matchups were a bit of a question mark and the 2nd rd were favorable for us.
Good news regarding Richmond- they do not offensive rebound the basketball well. That has been our huge achilles heal throughout the year. We have cut down on turnovers and need to do so on Thursday. And we need Taylor to play as well if not better than he did this weekend. If all this happens I like our chances. Although, if Richmond is bombing 3's like they did today against Dayton, no matter how well we play, we could be in trouble.
Bad News Regarding Richmond- they shoot a lot of 3's and if they are making them we are in trouble. They play a funky style, which Stallings should be prepared for given he used to run it. If I were him I'd zone until they shoot us out of it. They play a matchup zone- hopefully we r shooting ball well. We did well against LSU zone for a half, especially getting behind it.
My prediction- We either blow them out OR they beat us in a close game...If this game is played within 10 pts we will lose.

Flights to Denver aren’t too bad for me…
I couldn't agree more with everything you just said.

The outcome in Denver might depend on which teams have the most trouble adjusting to the altitude.
Both Bilas and Vitale don't think we'll handle Richmond...
Good news for us...

When will we know the time of the game? I need to start thinking up excuses to get out of work.
Sounds like we've got the 2nd game, starting mid afternoon (3ish central). Not ideal.

F*** Richmond and any so-called expert who is picking them. So they have a 6-10 forward who is just like Trey Tompkins of Georgia? We swept Georgia.
Our guys will win this by double digits. Screw Richmond.
We draw Louisville (3rd in the BEast)as our FOUR seed?!
Why do the tourney gods hate us so?
Please, let us not bring upon ourselves even more tournament god wrath by complaining about the 4 seed before we beat the 12th seed.
