Commodore Basketball Ranked #35 in First AP Poll

Receiving 16 Top-25 votes at the moment. Vandy is the fifth most highly rated SEC team behind Florida (#9), Kentucky (#12), Tennessee (#24), and Georgia (#29). Mississippi State (#40) is the only other SEC team receiving votes.

Vandy is in a three-way tie for #34 in the Coaches Poll.

Georgia got more votes than us?!!! Didn’t they barely win their game (by 2) the night BT notched the school’s first triple double?! Georgia is the most overrated team we have had in the league in good while. Yes they have some good players (2 to 3) but they have NO depth. I'm not saying Mark Fox doesn’t have this programming headed in a GREAT direction, they just aren’t there yet. Whoever thinks this 2 man show can win the SEC is an idiot.

Just to drive home the other comment's point, MVSU hasn't won an out-of-conference game against a Division I team since December 20, 2006. And UGA beat them by two.

I know UGA didn't have their best player, but look at Devan Downey wore down at USC last year. A great player can put a team on his back for a few games (hi Danny Manning, 1988 loves you!), but it's almost impossible to maintain over an entire year.

Vandy could easily be in the Top 25 if it gets to the championship round in San Juan. Quite frankly, a victory over UNC there would catapault us into the Top 15 easily.

The perception around the team is changing already with Brad Tinsley's triple-double. That kind of play out of point guard alleviates a lot of concerns about our team. A big performance in Puerto Rico and you'll definitely see the respect roll in.

Let's continue to do what we do best: compile solid wins while flying under the national radar.

Puerto Rico will show how good we are. This team is tough.

i agree we play best under the radar but I eventually want this program to play tough and win with great expectations. This should be a team to do that. TN plays well with high expectations all the time, I just want Vandy to do the same
