Taylor/Jenkins Named to Coaches All-SEC Team

Taylor gets the nod on the first team while Jenkins gets 2nd team recognition.

It should be noted that 9 guys were named to the first team and 8 to the second (I'm pretty sure they allow ties).

My question is besides these two guys who is most likely to garner All-SEC honors at the end of the year?

I'm gonna take a bit of the leap of faith and say Lance. When he came in as a freshman I thought he was only a pinch behind Jeff in talent. I think this is the year he breaks out and drops 12 a game which some high 20, low 30 point efforts sprinkled in.

Any other predictions?

I agree. I don't know what happened to Lance last year. He's got a world of talent, it's just a matter of the light coming on for him.

Failing that, I'm going to go on a limb a little and hope it's Steve T. Is there anyone who doesn't love the guy? He looks so damn happy just to be playing basketball.

I think Stevie-T will be incredibly important this year but I don't see him putting up the offensive numbers to get All-SEC recognition. He is gonna be defense and rebounding.

Andre maybe? Frankly the coaches probably have it about right because this team is so deep that I would be surprised if we have a situation where a third player beyond Taylor and Jenkins is getting enough touches and floor time to really put up the numbers typically required to get you on one of the All-SEC teams. I mean Brad could have a 4-to-1 A/T and he'd still be battling some tough competition.

Also I know when it comes to Kentucky the coaches have little to base their preseason picks on because they're all freshmen, but it's hard for me to imagine a situation where UK ends the season with no one on the first team.

Andre. The one thing that's negative about Andre is he has some REALLY bad games. Sometimes he just looks shaken and nervous and turns the ball over, can't hit, and fouls a lot. But that guy can be a leader and with his experience I think he steps up and leads the team this year. I'm thinking close to averaging a double double. That guy is pure hustle.
