Unbelievable. I have to say, AJ just drives me crazy. He makes some great plays and he hits his free throws, but he does enough stupid stuff to drive a man to drink.

I absolutely love Jermaine Beal. He and Jenkins are the two guys who truly appear to want the ball in their hands when it's time to make a big play. Cannot say enough about the game Jermaine played tonight and the way he's stepped up this season.

We are VERY lucky to escape with a win tonight. Unreal.

Insanely lucky. there are so many thing I want to talk about for this game. 1) Dolla was an animal (closest thing to Shan in Miss State I have seen since), 2) jenkins: I was thinking earlier tonight that although i still have very high hopes for him his year had been a slight dissapointment so far if only for the fact that he hasn't developed him game besides hitting 3's. He did just that tonight. Awesome. Love the way he responded from Wall's block against UK. 3) AJ. God Seamus I agree. WTF are you doing fouling the guy there? UGH. Then again he hit some big free-throws. Got a huge rebound. Then again he also couldn't hit the broadside of the barn for most of the game. The most thoroughly confusing player I have ever routed for. At any minute he can be the best player I have ever seen at Vandy and the next he makes Skutches look like Shaq. 4) Walker's 3 was HUGE, so was his 2 to go up 4. His offensive game is improving vastly. I like his running floater that he has been doing lately. 5) SEC Refs - continually piss me off. So inconsistent. Sometimes they let anything go other times any contact is a foul. You apparently can hack people under the basket but if you have any contact w/ them anywhere else on the court its always a foul. I thought they were equally bad for both teams. 6) Watch out for Georgia. F that watch out for EVERY TEAM in the SEC East next year. My God its going to be stacked as long as UK brings in a top class which you know they will. UGA has some amazing talent and they remind me a lot of the Vandy team who struggled my Sophmore year in '02-'03 and then the next year went to the Sweet Sixteen.

The thing that really stuck me was how bad the defense looked. They kept getting us out of position and getting open looks. Not acceptable.

Most unacceptable of all were these stats from the first half: Georgia got 20 points in the paint, many of them open dunks, but attempted no free throws.

When you're in position to defend, you go for a clean block and make the shot difficult if you miss. If you're out of position, you foul the arms so hard that the ball cannot possibly go in and your man ends up on the ground half the time.

On the other end, AJ continues to baffle me with his sometimes dominant, sometimes terrible play. They have to do something to strengthen his hands and they have to do something to make him go harder at the hoop. When he has the ball, facing the basket, he needs to go up for the dunk so hard that anyone unfortunate enough to be in his will will sustain injury. I do not know how point guards who weigh 175 pounds keep knocking him to the ground.

Man, that was one of the most nerve-wracking games I've ever been to at Memorial, you could hear the crowd groan after every missed shot. Lots to talk about, but one thing that blew my mind is when I opened the box score and saw how we dominated the FT numbers, I was sure they shot more than 26.

1) AJ - This has been repeated over and again here, but what kills me about a game like this is while I was walking out I heard people saying what a good game he had with his double-double. I was surprised that he got 10 boards, but the kid needs to hit the gym. Shooting 3-10 from the floor is never a good night, regardless of how many points you get at the line. He needs to learn to kick it out if he gets double teamed 6 ft from the basket. And has he ever dunked through someone? The layup he got fouled on with about 2 min left in regulation was a clear spot where he could have dunked it and gotten the and-1 but instead went for the cutsy move.

2)Dolla - luckily our senior force of nature bailed us out tonight. Every game Dolla has gotten better at willing this team to victory. At the end of the game his effort to keep driving the hole and actually finishing kept us in the game. It seems that we always have a senior who takes over our team and I'm going to miss Dolla next year. I hope AJ can step it up.

3)Taylor - Guy's got moves, but this is similar to my problem with AJ. 3 for 11 from the floor. He is great at getting to the free throw line, but at some point he needs to start getting points from the floor. He's either taking outside shots that he's not hitting (even though I like that he is gaining confidence) or he is throwing layups across the rim. He needs to watch Dolla drive from the arc and improve his finishing.

4) Jenkins - I'll keep this short. Stud. While I didn't see a lot of the screen action he was working on with Shan, glad to see that he's healthy and is starting to drive the ball. That is going to open up a new level for him, something JJ Redick learned his junior year and it catapulted him to a POTY. Maybe Vandy players are just smarter.

5) Coaching at the end - I love CKS as much as anyone, but every once in a while I have no idea what he is thinking. It sucks that AJ made the ridiculous move to touch foul the guy at the end of the game, but with a man at the free throw line down 2 and 1 second left, everyone in the stadium knows he is intentionally missing the free throw. Why did CKS leave Walker and Goulbourne in the game to defend the tip. Festus and Steve were both sitting on the bench. Instead he swaps Brad for John. I just don't get it...

Long post, but this game drove me nuts. Even so, we keep winning, so I can't complain that much. Go Dores!! Here comes that 3 seed.

Alex watching the play i was thinking the same thing. Maybe Walker and Gouldbourne are really good at blocking out? I don't know in that position I'm going for height.

Almost forgot to mention Andre Walker! He had the game of his life tonight and boy did we need it. 17 points, 6 boards (4 Off), 3 ast, 3 blk, 1 stl. And perfect from the line with a huge 3 at the end of the game to cap it off. Every night reminds me how much we missed him last year. Dolla had an unbelievable game, but my vote for player of the game is to #24

Kedren Johnson was supposedly at the game tonight. According to Rivals.com he is our top rated prospect for 2011. He is a 6'4 point guard from Lewisburg, TN. He was supposed to be at the UK game but ended up not going because he had a playoff game that night.

I am afraid I am beginning to believe that AJ is soft, mentally and physically. He seems to have gotten softer since his Freshman year. That is the only way to explain what I have seen from him to this point this year.
